Life Skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enables individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life – WHO.
At Creating Futures and particularly in our Life Skills Workshops our earnest endeavour is to enable and enhance the positive qualities of our youth and thus provide them a better opportunity to succeed in life.
Our sessions over this summer, benefited by a total of 25 students conducted from 02 April – 28 May 2016, saw us addressing:
- Self Awareness – Strength & Beauties
- Self Awareness – Multiple Intelligence & Emotion Management
- Communication Skills
- Analytical/ Problem Solving
- Discussion/Decision Making
- Working with Aptitude Tests
We also incorporated a session and some activities on ‘Gender Sensitivity’ which made quite an impact. It was an eye-opener of sorts for the students to realise that we unconsciously are biased when it comes to differentiating certain behaviours, professions and roles on the basis of gender. With the growing focus on gender equality, a lot more could be done to make our youth aware of the same.
